Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is housing designed for NDIS participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Only a small share of NDIS participants are eligible, and SDA must be included in your plan. If you’re not sure whether you qualify, we can help you understand the process.
SDA homes are built to one of four design categories, depending on your needs:
SDA is funded from Capital Supports – Specialist Disability Accommodation and covers the cost of the home itself. Your day-to-day support in the home, such as SIL, is funded separately from Core Supports. You also pay a reasonable rent contribution from your own income.
We support participants across Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
How do I know if I’m eligible for SDA?
Eligibility depends on your functional impairment or support needs, and usually needs an occupational therapist’s assessment. Your support coordinator can help you apply.
What’s the difference between SDA and SIL?
SDA is the home. SIL is the support you receive inside it.
Can I choose where I live?
Yes. You choose your SDA home and your support provider separately.
